After roughly 7months of practicing and preparing Chris finally was ready to be kilted with the Pierce County Firefighter’s Pipes & Drums this weekend at the Seattle Highland Games. A member is able to be kilted after they show proficiency in the core set of tunes (8 tunes) the band plays. Then at your first event playing with the band you go through a kilting ceremony where you are expected to go from non-traditional kilt wearing to traditional kilt wearing (watch the video it will make more sense).
The whole family made the trek up to Enumclaw for the games, it was a really good time. Hayden soaked in all the culture and excitement getting to watch her Daddy play with his friends. Here are a few pictures and a small video from the weekend.
For Christmas Samantha was planning on surprising me with bagpipes. I have been talking about learning bagpipes forever and never made the step. I have friends who are in Pipes and Drums bands and have always loved bagpipe sounds. Read the rest of this entry »
Last week I attended a convention in Oakland for some Union training. It was a quick trip mainly business but still was able to mix in a little

Coming Home
fun. The area was interesting and definitely made me appreciate Olympia. We were able to visit Jack London’s bar, which was his house where he wrote Call of the Wild.
